Nightmare.

Last Tuesday night was a nightmare.

Wednesday morning I woke up in that same nightmare, crying in my bed as I looked at my phone, confirming the worst possible news.

We had elected a racist, misogynistic, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, individual as our president for the next four years.

I know you've seen so many commentary posts like this, but I feel like we are all writing in order to process everything.

So here I am, writing to process.

It’s just extremely disappointing that so many people felt comfortable voting and supporting an openly racist, sexist, homophobic, misogynistic individual. This isn't about opinions. When you support "opinions" that actively oppress marginalized individuals, it's not okay and not tolerable.

On Wednesday, I held others as they cried out of fear, and I was held by others as I cried out of fear for not only myself but my family, my friends, and everyone who will be negatively affected by this decision.

We can’t normalize Trump.

It’s absolutely disturbing to know that kids have heard and seen this man say the most crude, racist, derogatory things about women, people of color, and people with disabilities, to name a few.

I'll say it again: we can’t normalize Trump.

While it sickens me to know that so many people feel okay with electing this man, it reminds me that I can never stop fighting for what’s right.

We can’t sit back and watch these four years pass by and hope for the best. If you are privileged enough to sit here and read this post, then you have some ability to stand up, speak out, and actively work to protect others who might be harmed by this election using any platform you have.

I guess what I want to say is this: I do not support this man as our President because of the numerous accounts of disgusting oppressive statements he has made, as well as the policies he and his Vice President plan to enact that specifically target marginalized groups of people.

I am not going to tolerate individuals who condone his actions.

I am going to keep working to fight for human rights, and I want to encourage others to not only promote love, but take steps in any way you can to actively elevate voices of the marginalized and oppressed.

Last Wednesday brought me to tears many times, but it was amazing to be able to hold hands with absolute strangers and rally together with under a platform of love and justice.
