The "college experience"

What a strange time this is.

People expect to instantly become best friends, people instantly want to feel at home with everyone and comfortable with everything but honestly, it's only been a few weeks. We still have so much time. I try to remind myself that it's okay to not be 100% comfortable yet and to not have found my close group of friends yet.

Right?

It's all a confusing concept that I'm still trying to wrap my head around. Is it bad that I'm in my room almost every night at 8 or 9 and just want to relax?

Am I getting the college experience?

I worry all the time.

But honestly, what is "the college experience" that everyone raves about? Doesn't everyone experience things differently?

There shouldn't be a societal concept of "oh you're going to love the college experience!" Like, what is this? Some ride at Disneyland I'm expected to go on and see & hear & feel everything the same way everybody else does?

Everyone shows the world what they want you to see.

They want you to see snapchats of them dancing at a party or having fun late at night with a group of people. They don't want you to see them sitting by themselves, stressed out because they miss home or have no one to go to the caf with. They only show you what they want you to see and what they want you to think they are doing 24/7. They only post those pictures or talk about those things because, well hey, you're in college and you're supposed to be having "the college experience."

Simply put, we all have our ups and downs.

We just hate acknowledging that fact.

Well, I give you permission to acknowledge it, take a deep breath, and be okay with it.
