Who created hate?

Sometimes when I lose hope in society, I watch my videos from Beyoncé’s Formation Tour and realize that there is still some good left in this world.

(I didn't take this picture but I wish I did.)

I get frustrated very easily at the thought that some people create excuses for oppressive, unjust, and harmful behavior. I get frustrated when people tell me that feminists are going too hard at this “equality” thing. I get frustrated at the concept of corrupt competition. This competition is something we see every single day and probably don’t notice it. I stopped myself from saying that I get frustrated at the concept of competition in general, because yes, I do think that there can be a form of constructive competition that works to better each other and not push each other down.

Unfortunately, we do not seem to have that as a society.

Why can’t we just have the pure, honest desire to help each other out? We are all living on this Earth at the same time, so why shouldn’t we aim to share what we can in order to give every single human being a chance to live a beautiful life that benefits them? I know this is hard because everyone has a different viewpoint of what living a beautiful life is to them, but if we took the time to figure that out and help them obtain it in the ways that we can, wouldn’t the world be a more gracious place?

I dream of a place where everyone is selflessly cared for.

Who created hate?

How did that feeling first arise? Why has it been so easy to transfer down generation after generation? Why is it so hard to put an end to? Is it because the emotion is so strong and has been developed into our makeup that it is almost impossible to eradicate?

It’s sickening that it is so easy for human beings to turn on each other. We need to respect the lives of others and respect their existence on this earth. Why is that such a hard concept for us to grasp?

Sometimes I’m truly confused by our society that constantly looks for ways to put others down and diminish their existence. I’ve seen oppressive, systematic discrimination in our society tear down so many people I love and admire. Historical evidence of hatred and oppressive injustice is introduced to us in school (and often not fully explained), but why does it seem like we never learn from the past? Why is it that so often, we skim over the terrible actions of our country and our people in order to re-paint a better image of America?

We need to learn the truth about the hatred and oppression so prevalent in our country and in other countries in order to improve and create a more beautiful world. Next time someone speaks up about an injustice, do not silence them. Do not deny them. Do not compete with them. Listen to their story, put aside your hesitations, and ask how you can help.
